Hi, I'm Daisy.
I think about how people enact shifts in attention to transform their worlds from the way things are to the way things should be.
I'm currently writing a dissertation on such practices in the context of ritual and performance art by Indigenous Latin American healers and artists.
Once I complete this project, I will hold a PhD in Performance Studies from Northwestern University with a sub speciality in psychological anthropology.
Since beginning this work, I have begun to see ritualized practices of contemplation everywhere, from the cigarette break to the act of listening to music on a train commute.
I continually witness how shifts in attention structure our worlds through experiences as simple as having a vivid dream, watching a powerful film, or dancing to a funky beat.
I believe art to be one of the most effective ways of reorienting our perspectives on life, at the level of both the individual and collective. This is the core belief I bring to every part of my life and to every space I occupy.
